Prest Financial planning to keep it in the family as the rm is included in the New Model Adviser Top 100 for 2015
PREST FINANCIAL Planning believe in keeping it in the family.
Managing director Graham Prest runs the family firm started by his dad Jim in 1961.
In fact, the firm is based in James House in Hazel Grove, named after Jim, who is still going strong at 88.
Graham’s daughter Hayley, 29, also works as a paraplanner in the wealth management and tax planning business.
And it’s those family values that are the backbone of Prest.
Graham says: “We treat clients as individuals and know their views count. It mirrors our experience as a family.
“We actively seek client feedback to improve the business experience.
“It’s important that the process is as simple as possible to build on our credibility.
“I am dealing with the children and grandchildren of the clients my dad had in the 1960s.
“That’s how it works for us – we know about people’s lives and their families-armed with that intimate knowledge we can help them plan properly
“It’s important that a client – and future generations – trust us and have the confidence to put their faith in us-we are seen as a safe pair of hands
“That trust is important, it’s when we find out about a client. A person isn’t going to open up to us about their finances without it.”
As well as Graham, the firm has two other directors – financial director Mark Livesey who has been with the firm 29 years and Jan Robinson, who is new to the board.
Prest now employees 22 people – including seven financial advisers – and has 800 active clients.
Since moving into James House in 2011, the turnover has more than doubled.
During the last 12 months Prest has put the whole firm through a client excellence programme – this is now an ongoing process
Graham adds: “We wanted to evaluate every contact point with clients’’

“It was going to be a year-long process but it has become so important we are going to carry on with it.
“We have made improvements and listened to our clients.
“We want our clients to unhesitatingly award us a 10 out of 10 for our service and advice – this is our goal as a company.
“We are trying to show that the business has a presence and is professional yet remains family-orientated.
“Most of our work comes from word of mouth, from referrals from our existing clients, so this is hugely important to us. The road to excellence is endless.”
Prest has also again been included the New Model Adviser UK Top 100 for 2015 – the industry recognised standard for financial advisers – and will continue to support the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust near Altrincham, its charity for several years.
